My
Experience
Living
Abroad
My
name
is
Sarah
Elizabeth
Johnson,
and
I
have
lived
abroad
for
five
years
now.
It
has
been
an
amazing
experience
for
me,
and
I
would
recommend
it
to
anyone
who
has
the
chance.
I
first
moved
to
London,
England,
to
study
abroad
during
my
junior
year
of
college.
While
there,
I
fell
in
love
with
the
culture,
people,
and
food.
I
knew
that
I
wanted
to
live
abroad
again
as
soon
as
possible.
After
graduation,
I
decided
to
move
to
Sydney,
Australia,
for
work.
It
was
a
big
adjustment
at
first,
but
soon
I

exploring
the
city,
trying
new
foods,
and
meeting
new
people.
I
loved
the
beach
lifestyle
and
the
laid-back
attitude
of
the
Aussies.
But
eventually,
I
knew
that
I
wanted
to
experience
a
different
part
of
the
world.
So,
I
moved
to
Tokyo,
Japan.
This
was
the
biggest
culture
shock
for
me,
as
I
had
never
been
to
Asia
before.
But
I
quickly
adapted
to
life
in
the
city,
learning
the
language
and
navigating
the
subway
system.
The
food
was
incredible,
and
I
loved
discovering
new
neighborhoods
and
hidden
gems.
Living
abroad
has
allowed
me
to
grow
as
a
person
in
ways
that
I
never
could
have
imagined.
I
have
become
more
independent,
open-minded,
and
adaptable.
I
have
made
lifelong
friends
from
all
over
the
world,
and
I
have
learned
to
appreciate
different
cultures
and
ways
of
life.
Of
course,
there
have
been
challenges
along
the
way.
Homesickness
and
culture
shock
are
real,
and
it
can
be
hard
to
be
away
from
family
and
friends.
But
for
me,
the
benefits
of
living
abroad
far
outweigh
the
struggles.
If
you
have
the
opportunity
to
live
abroad,
I
encourage
you
to
take
it.
It
may
just
be
the
best
decision
you
ever
make.
